Description

Aristaloe aristata, or Lace Aloe, is a small succulent with neat green rosettes. White spots and soft teeth give each leaf a lacy look. It fits well in pots, rock gardens, and bright indoor spaces.

Lace Aloe Care

Give Lace Aloe bright light. Morning sun or bright indoor light works well. If you enjoy bold dry-garden plants, see our Blue Chalksticks.

Use loose soil that drains fast. Let the soil dry before you water again. Too much water can harm the roots. For another small plant with a bold form, try Tiger Jaws.

Growth and Flowers

Lace Aloe stays low and forms new pups near the base. Mature plants may send up tall stems with orange-red flowers in warm weather. The pups can be moved to their own pots once they have roots.

Protect the plant from long, hard freezes. In cold areas, grow it in a pot that can be moved inside. For another hardy rosette plant, compare it with Sempervivum ‘Reinhardt’.

Simple Tips

  • Give it bright light.
  • Use a pot with a drain hole.
  • Let the soil dry between drinks.
  • Water less in cool weather.
  • Keep it safe from long freezes.
