Description

Dyckia fosteriana ‘Grape Jelly’ is a terrestrial bromeliad valued for its compact rosette of narrow, sharply toothed leaves that can develop rich burgundy to purple color in strong light. Unlike many tropical bromeliads, Dyckia prefers a drier, more succulent-style root environment.

Light and Color

Strong light helps produce the best foliage color and compact growth. Acclimate plants gradually to direct sun, especially after indoor or shaded production, to reduce the risk of leaf scorch.

Water and Soil

Use a fast-draining mix and a container with drainage holes. Water thoroughly during active growth, then let the root zone dry well before watering again. Established plants tolerate dry periods better than waterlogged soil.

Bold Desert-Style Companions
