Description
Rhaphidophora decursiva, commonly called Dragon Tail, is a tropical climbing aroid with glossy green foliage that changes dramatically as the plant matures. Young leaves are simple and entire, while older leaves can become large and deeply divided when the vine is allowed to climb.
Light and Placement
Provide bright, indirect light with protection from harsh afternoon sun. Strong light supports compact growth and larger mature foliage. If you enjoy unusual tropical foliage, explore our tropical plant collection.
Water and Potting Mix
Water when the upper portion of the potting mix begins to dry. Use a loose, well-drained mix with enough air space around the roots, and never leave the pot standing in water.
Give It a Support
Dragon Tail is a natural climber. A moss pole, coir pole, plank, or trellis encourages the vine to grow upward and helps the leaves mature into their characteristic divided form.
Temperature and Humidity
Warm household temperatures suit this tropical well. Average indoor humidity is usually adequate, although steadier humidity can help new leaves unfurl cleanly.

Plant Safety
Like many aroids, Rhaphidophora contains calcium oxalate crystals and should not be eaten. Keep it away from pets and children that may chew foliage.
