Description

Ajuga reptans ‘Burgundy Glow’ is a low perennial with cream, green, and burgundy leaves. Blue flower spikes rise in spring. It spreads into a colorful mat and looks good near darker forms such as Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chip’.

Light and Soil

Grow ‘Burgundy Glow’ in part shade. It can take some sun when the soil stays moist. Use soil that drains well. In hot areas, shade from strong afternoon sun can help the leaves look fresh.

Simple Care

Water new plants while roots form. After that, water when the soil starts to dry. Trim old flower stems after bloom. Pull runners if they move past their space. For a deeper bronze look, try Ajuga ‘Mahogany’.

Garden Use

This plant works along paths, under shrubs, in pots, and at the front of a shade bed. Its bright leaves pair well with soft foliage such as Heuchera ‘Southern Comfort’. Give it room to spread.
