Hoya obovata variegata ‘Splash’

Description

Hoya obovata variegata ‘Splash’ combines thick rounded foliage with cream variegation and silvery splash markings. Mature vines can also produce clusters of waxy, star-shaped flowers. It works well trailing from a shelf or basket, or trained upward on a hoop or trellis.

Light and Placement

Water and Potting Mix

Use a coarse, fast-draining mix and a pot with drainage holes. Water thoroughly after much of the mix has dried, then allow excess water to escape. Thick Hoya leaves store moisture, so constantly wet soil can create more problems than an occasional short dry period.

Training and Blooming

Vines can trail naturally or be guided onto a support. Avoid removing old flower spurs after blooming because Hoyas can flower again from the same peduncles. Bright light, steady warmth, healthy roots, and maturity are more important for flowering than using a high-phosphorus bloom booster.
