Philodendron ‘Splendid’ — Velvet Climbing Philodendron

Description

Philodendron ‘Splendid’ is a climbing hybrid with large, velvet leaves. The deep green foliage has pale veins and a soft sheen. As the plant grows, the leaves can become larger and more dramatic.

This plant grows best with a pole, trellis, or other support. It can also trail when young. Its bold leaves make it a strong choice for a bright indoor plant display.

Light

Water and Soil

Use a loose mix with good drainage. Water when the top of the mix starts to dry. Let extra water drain from the pot. Wet roots can lead to rot. Philodendron brandtianum also grows well with this kind of care.

Climbing Growth

Train the stems up a support to help the plant grow larger leaves. Tie stems loosely if needed. Trim damaged leaves at the base and remove weak growth as needed.

Simple Care
