Fresh herbs can turn simple wraps into meals with much more flavor. Basil, parsley, cilantro, mint, and chives all work well with vegetables, beans, tuna, turkey, hummus, and whole-grain tortillas.
These four recipes are flexible, so use the herbs and vegetables you have on hand and adjust seasoning to taste.
Tuscan-Style Tuna Wraps
- 2 whole-grain tortillas
- 1/2 cup drained tuna
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup baby spinach
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Mix the tuna, tomatoes, spinach, parsley, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Divide between the tortillas, fold, and serve immediately.
Turkey and Five-Spice Lettuce Wraps
Brown lean ground turkey with ginger, then add chopped water chestnuts, bell pepper, cooked brown rice, broth, hoisin sauce, five-spice powder, and a small amount of sesame oil. Spoon the mixture into lettuce leaves and top with shredded carrot and chopped fresh herbs.
The USDA recommends cooking ground poultry to an internal temperature of 165°F; its poultry food-safety guidance explains safe cooking and handling practices.
Spicy Bean and Guacamole Wraps
Warm refried beans with salsa and finely diced jalapeño, then spoon the mixture over shredded romaine in a whole-grain tortilla. Add guacamole and roll tightly.
Herb Hummus Collard Wraps
Spread hummus on lightly steamed collard leaves, then add cucumber, carrot, jicama, celery, avocado, basil, chives, and chopped cashews. Roll the leaves around the filling and serve fresh.
Grow the Herbs You Use Most

For a ready-to-use garden herb, Flat Italian parsley works well in wraps, sauces, salads, and cooked dishes.
If you have extra parsley after cooking, our fresh parsley pesto recipe is another simple way to use a larger harvest.
Keep Wraps Fresh
Prepare wraps close to serving time when possible. Refrigerate cooked meat, tuna mixtures, hummus, and cut vegetables promptly, and keep cold ingredients chilled until assembly.
