Description
Bougainvillea ‘Imperial Thai Delight’ is a tropical vine with creamy white bracts that develop soft pink and lilac tones as they mature. The shifting pastel color gives this cultivar a gentler look than many traditional bougainvilleas while keeping the same vigorous, sun-loving growth habit.
Light and Flowering
Grow in full sun for the best flowering and strongest bract color. Plants kept in too much shade tend to produce long leafy stems with fewer blooms.
Soil and Water
Use a fast-draining soil or container mix and avoid keeping the root zone constantly wet. Water thoroughly, then allow the upper root zone to dry somewhat before watering again.
Color Pairings
The pastel bracts pair well with the golden tones of ‘California Gold’ and the brighter warm color of ‘Sundown Orange’ for mixed tropical displays.
Training and Containers
Train long stems on a trellis, fence, or other sturdy support, or prune regularly to maintain a compact container specimen. Our small garden design guide offers more ideas for using large containers as focal points in limited spaces.
Cold Weather Care
Protect from frost. In colder climates, keep the plant in a movable container and overwinter it in a bright protected location, reducing water as growth slows.
