Monstera adansonii, Swiss Cheese Plant

Monstera adansonii, Swiss Cheese Plant

The Swiss cheese plant gets its common name from its large, heart-shaped leaves that develop holes as the plant ages, in a process called fenestration. This makes the leaves resemble Swiss cheese. Put the plant near a window where it will receive bright, but indirect, sunlight. Trim the vines as needed if they start to look scraggly to encourage new growth. Numerous Monstera species go by the common name “Swiss Cheese Vine,” and many have been renamed or reclassified in recent years.

Moderate to bright indirect light.

Water weekly allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between watering.

Will tolerate dry air but prefer high humidity.

Average home temperature of 60°F-75°F. If you’re comfortable, the Monstera adansonii, Swiss Cheese Plant is comfortable.
