Description
Carolina Reaper is an extra-hot chile pepper with red, wrinkled fruit and a pointed tail. It grows best in warm weather and full sun.
This pepper is for growers who want intense heat. Handle the fruit with care and keep it away from your eyes and face.
How to Grow Carolina Reaper
Start plants after frost has passed. Give them a sunny site, loose soil, and good drainage. Keep the soil moist, but not wet.
For a milder choice, grow our Jalapeno pepper. For another very hot type, see the Trinidad Scorpion pepper. The Cayenne Long Slim pepper is a good choice for drying and cooking.
Light and Water
Give the plant at least six hours of direct sun each day. Water when the top of the soil starts to dry. Do not let the roots sit in water.
Harvest
Pick the peppers when they are fully red and firm. Wear gloves when you harvest or cut the fruit. Wash tools and hands well after use.
